Hi, my name is Isaac and I own and operate Vermont Tree Company, LLC. I started this business to pursue my passion for trees and intentional work while also providing my hometown of Tunbridge and the surrounding towns with a whole systems approach to arboriculture and landscape planning. Growing up in rural Vermont I started climbing trees around the age of three and a half and developed a love for working with my hands. Around age 19 I began hiring myself out to clear fence lines, cut firewood, and do basic removals. At about the same time I became interested in architecture, but quickly realized I would spend my life at a desk if I seriously followed that path leading me to look into the field of landscape architecture.
After completing my freshman year of college at Lewis & Clark in Portland, OR I transferred to the University of Vermont to pursue an education in landscape architecture and sustainable horticulture by creating a self-designed major called “Whole Systems Landscape Architecture”. The focus of this major consisted of studying a variety of landscape design practices and techniques coupled with native and ornamental plant ID and function with a focus on native pollinator decline and rehabilitation systems. Or in other words, fostering beautiful landscapes that provide a source of habitat and food for humans, livestock, and wild animals.
I spent my summers while at UVM working for the Burlington Parks, Recreation and Waterfront department on their tree crew. This consisted of pruning, removing, and planting street and park trees throughout the city. It was an incredible resource for learning how to safely and effectively perform tree work, assess tree health, and operate heavy machinery. In the winter, I pruned apple orchards for the UVM Horticulture Research Farm. While in college I received additional training from Northeast Woodland Training, Sunset Tree Care, and Amber Tree Service. Upon graduating from UVM in 2016, I kicked the business into high gear and haven’t looked back. Vermont Tree Co., LLC is fully insured.
